About Baptism

"Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ's Body, the Church. The bond which God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble."

We join God's family through the sacrament of Holy Baptism. Once we are baptized we are fully members of the Church. There are no other hoops to jump through. But of course, baptism is not the end of the journey but the start of a new one. One famous religious leader said "Baptism is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that takes the rest of your life to complete." (Luther)

We welcome to baptism all who are ready to believe in their hearts and confess with their lips that Jesus is their Leader and Forgiver.

As you will see in the brochures attached we also believe that since the time of the Bible it was the practice of the church to bring babies to God for his blessing through baptism.
For children who are baptized, we also offer the sacrament of confirmation. It's at confirmation that children get to profess with their own lips that they believe in Jesus and accept him as their Savior. Please note: confirmation is not necessary for you to be a full member of the church. Baptism is "full initiation" and adoption into God's family.

Those who are baptized are welcome to receive Holy Communion (Eucharist) once they have reached an age when they can understand what communion means. We offer communion classes each year to prepare young children to participate fully in our worship life.
