Confirming your faith
An ancient tradition within the church offers adults a chance to make a public profession of their faith in Jesus. Why would you want to do that?
Some people want a chance to take the promises of being a Christian for themselves. If you were baptized as an infant or child, you may not have had this opportunity as an adult. You don't need to be baptized again (God got it right the first time) but you may want to profess your faith for yourself. That's a good thing to do ... since the Bible tells us that "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved." [Romans 10:9-10 NLT]
Some people have fallen away from their faith and want to take a giant step back. By confirming your faith you can get a fresh start on your spiritual life.
And some people feel it is important to make a commitment to a specific church or tradition. By receiving confirmation in the Anglican church you accept a new identity and role within the local congregation. Only confirmed members are elligible to serve on the Leadership Team or as Executive Directors of the Church.
