Kumwambu, Central Tanzania and places remote
Since we started Church of the Spirit in 1997, we have had a connection with CHristians in very rural portions of Tanzania. One of our early members, now a Church planter/priest in Georgia, brought back pictures and greetings from a little village on the border with Burundi called Kumwambu. For years we supported the church there with medical supplies and offerings. Our connection with them got lost somehow but we continued to stay in contact with the new bishop for the area, Saddock Makaya. After a year or two, Bp. Makaya was transferred to a new diocese in Central Tanzania. There he has been woking to keep the faithful together, work through both floods and famine, start churches and build both a cathedral and an AIDS center.
We stay in email contact with Bp. Makaya and hear from time to time how he is doing. Of course, the financial needs of this, one of the poorest of all nations in the world, is staggering. So are the benefits to helping the church (our brothers and sisters in Christ) reach out to serve and evangelize their country.

Letter from this week, March 10, 2007
Dear Roger
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I am pleased to let you know that the constraction of our Central church in Tabora is progressing well. We are working on roofing, but now since we received a gift of roofing, but we must raise the funds for raising the walls. We will be plastaering and floor by ourselves.
Please continue to pray for us. We are so thankful that God has been so gracious for this project.
Our new request: Cement and lime are expensive. We thank all of
those who are praying for us.
I will be sending you some photos of the new cathedral in Tabora.
Sincerely in Christ
